I started out writing for a content mill too. I told myself I would gain experience and get something better paid. To cut a long story short, potential employers didn't seem that impressed and I got stuck. I managed to find a slightly better second content mill to write for, just before the first one dropped me over something petty, despite all the work I'd done for them and the 5 star reviews.
